We have been producing the Hong Kong Life Insurance Intermediary Monitor since 2006. We publish a number of different products that analyse and compare companies in the Hong Kong market:

  • HK HKFI Life Insurance Intermediary Monitor (tied agency focus but includes all channels)
  • HK Life Insurance Bancassurance Intermediary Monitor (sales headcount-related measures from bank and also life company perspectives)
  • HK Agencies, Brokers & IFAs Monitor & Directory (sales headcount and relationships for CIB/PIBA brokers, and HKFI multi-agencies)
  • HK MPF & ORSO Scheme Monitor

Additionally, we often provide a range of one-off services to insurance company and investment community (fund managers and equity analysts) clients, which draw on our detailed databases. Most typically, we collate relevant analysis on agency forces from our proprietary databases to support due diligence of a target company’s tied agency channel during an M&A transaction – see here for an outline of this service.

A recent example is a set of comparative benchmarks to aid assessment of the Metlife Hong Kong agency force, which we prepared following Metlife’s announcement to sell its HK operation – see here for an outline of this report. We have produced similar reports in relation to a number of other recent sales/acquisitions in Hong Kong: New York Life (bought by Chubb Life); Ageas (bought by FTLife), MassMutual (bought by  YunfengFinancial Group), Dah Sing Life (bought by Everwin), Zurich Life (closure of agency channel).

For an example of detailed agent retention analysis from a recent issue of our Hong Kong Life Insurance Intermediary Monitor see here.
